PARAGON GUIDES WILDERNESS HIKING CLUB

AUGUST 25 HIKE: Bighorn Creek with LLAMAS

Join Paragon Guides and the 'Boys' (llamas) for a Full Day hike with Llamas into the Eagle’s Nest Wilderness Area.

An established trail climbs out of East Vail following Bighorn Creek to an old miners cabin. Further unmaintained and off-trail hiking leads to a remote upper basin.

Starting elevation: 8608’ / High point: 11,000’

Round Trip mileage: 6.5, adding approximately 1.5 miles for the upper basin hike. Llamas will have packs to help carry extra gear / lunches.

Transportation provided, meeting at Meadow Mtn. parking lot or hotel pickup at 8:00am / returning by approximately 4:00pm

The Mount of the Holy Cross, 14,005', has become one of the most popular 14er's in Colorado. With its mysterious Cross of Snow and the Bowl of Tears Lake, experienced hikers can enjoy the beauty and serenity of a special place. From a Base Camp at 11,000' we will climb the North Ridge route (difficult class 2, off-trail hiking).

Llama assisted to carry gear to a base camp and then opportunities to make the peak on the mornings of the second or third day according to weather and other conditions.

Our Paragon Hiking Club Hike of the week for July 28th is:
Grouse Lake and Beyond

Grouse Lake and Beyond - An established trail leads to this alpine lake nestled in Spruce and Fir forest. Going ‘beyond’ accesses a high alpine meadow and the base of Grouse Mountain. Approximately 9 miles round trip to lake.

Beyond may add 1.5 miles
